A Review of Newsboys 2003 album Adoration
Posted by admin on Saturday Jan 14, 2012 Under adsl internetThe trend setting band Newsboys have decided to stick to a trend this time around and construct a worship album. Adoration is the Newsboys earliest endeavor at a worship album and the result is a lot superior than nearly every other worship albums that have come out of late. Something lost on the majority of worship albums is skilled musicianship and production abercrombie uk , Adoration has both of these.
The Newsboys deliver a standard 10 track album which is kind of frustrating seeing as 2 of the songs were written by other people and 2 others are simply live tracks from the album Thrive. So even on an album where barely half of the songs are totally fresh, the rock band nonetheless can’t manage to get past 10 songs.
I grieve for the days when the Newsboys were a band. The time of Step Up To The Microphone and Love Liberty Disco, when the group wrote the songs together. Right now everything is written by Peter Furler and Steve Taylor, who write amazingly together however so much of the balance of the Newsboys’ writing talent goes unused.
In the studio keyboardist Jeff Frankenstein is as competent as ever, Phil Joel adds his amazing background vocal capability, Duncan Phillips got to join in in the studio for the second album in a row (the drum machine must be in the shop), but unfortunately Jody Davis is required to play three chord songs on most of the album as per Peter Furler’s songwriting.
Overall Adoration is an admirable worship album but as a Newsboys’ album its simply one more Pete and Steve twosome project. I for one am looking forward to their most recent release Born Again, which hits stores on July 13th, 2010.
